Les Menuires / Saint-Martin-de-Belleville local area (Belleville valley pass): 81 runs and 30 lifts according to the official site; 160 km is the figure used by bergfex and the local pass. The 3 Vallées pass gives access to 600 km and about 169 lifts across the whole linked area. The French resorts publish run counts, not km per difficulty.

Pros

  • 160 km of local slopes between 1,850 and 2,850 m, snow-sure and sunny
  • Les 3 Vallées on one pass: 600 km of slopes and about 169 lifts
  • Ski-in/ski-out apartments and a cheaper local pass at 350 euros for 6 days
  • Quiet, pretty Saint-Martin-de-Belleville for those who want a real village

Cons

  • Purpose-built and functional; the original architecture is not pretty
  • Above the tree line, so bad-weather days offer little shelter
  • Après-ski is modest compared with Val Thorens

Best for

  • Families who want ski-in/ski-out at a fair price
  • Intermediates who want to explore Les 3 Vallées
  • Beginners who want gentle, sunny slopes

The ski area

Les Menuires and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville share a local area of 160 km with 81 runs and 30 lifts, between 1,850 and 2,850 m. The slopes face the sun in the morning and run back to the resort from both sides of the valley: the Masse sector with its long, quiet reds and the Mont de la Chambre side that links to Méribel. Snow is reliable, and the season runs from 5 December 2026 to 18 April 2027.

With the 3 Vallées pass you have 600 km of slopes and about 169 lifts to play with. Val Thorens is a short lift ride up the valley, Méribel just over the ridge, and Courchevel reachable in a morning.

Who is Les Menuires for?

Les Menuires is the sensible choice for families and groups who want the 3 Vallées without 3 Vallées prices. Most apartments are ski-in/ski-out, the beginner zones are gentle and close to the centre, and there is a cheaper local pass if you do not plan to roam. Intermediates get a huge playground. Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is a proper old village with charm and good restaurants for those who find the main resort too functional. Après-ski is relaxed: a few bars and a handful of mountain huts.

Practical

From Belgium plan on about 890 km and 8.75 hours, with the steep climb from Moûtiers at the end; chains or winter tyres are compulsory. Geneva airport is about 180 km away. Saturday changeover days bring heavy traffic from Moûtiers, so arrive early or late.
